Guerrero takes second SAL weekly honor

Left-hander named Pitcher of the Week with 13.0 scoreless IP

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 18, 2015) - Kannapolis Intimidators starting pitcher Jordan Guerrero has been named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for May 11-17, his second time to earn the weekly honor in 2015. The left-hander went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/13.0 IP) and 18 strikeouts while giving up just five hits and four walks in the last week. 

Guerrero, 21, has not allowed a run in his last 15.0 innings of work, dating back to May 4. This season, he is 5-0 with a 1.37 ERA (7 ER/46.0 IP) with 50 strikeouts and 10 walks in seven games (seven starts). He currently leads the South Atlantic League and ranks 16th in Minor League Baseball with 46.0 innings pitched this season. His 50 strikeouts also leads the SAL and ranks eighth in the Minors. Guerrero ranks second in the league and 21st in Minor League Baseball with a 1.37 ERA, while his five wins is tied for the league lead and is tied for fifth in the Minors. He also ranks third in the SAL in WHIP (0.91) and average (.201). The White Sox selected Guerrero in the 15th round of the June 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Moorpark (Calif.) High School. 

In the first week of the season, Guerrero was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for April 9-19 with 12.0 scoreless innings and 17 strikeouts in two starts. He is the first Intimidators pitcher to be named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week twice in one season since at least 2007.

The Intimidators hit the road for a three-game series in Asheville starting tonight at 7:05 p.m. at McCormick Field. The team returns to CMC-NorthEast Stadium for a seven-game home stand on Thursday beginning with four games against Hickory and three against Lexington.
