Women in Baseball

The Women in Baseball Leadership Committee is composed of women executives from the Minor League Baseball national office and meets regularly to create programming and initiatives, discuss topics relevant to women in sports and help build comradery among women in the baseball industry. The Women in Baseball Leadership Committee executes several events and programs each year, including:

Women in Baseball Leadership Event

This event is for women currently working full time for a Minor League Baseball or Major League Baseball team or league office and are registered as a Baseball Winter Meetings attendee. If you meet both criteria, we invite you to attend the 12th annual Women in Baseball Leadership Event in December. A registration link and additional event information will be available mid-to-late October.

If you do not meet the criteria to attend the Women in Baseball Leadership Event, we encourage you to attend the Diversity in Sport Forum or Moving Diversity Forward. Hover your mouse over the event name to email the appropriate individual for more information.

This year's event will include a welcome address from Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner, an interactive "lean in" activity and dialogue led by Cindy Moran, Talent Optimizer at MVP-Results; and a series of roundtable discussions guided by designated table moderators. During the event, you will have the opportunity to discuss with other attendees a variety of topics (as selected by the Women in Baseball Leadership Committee) that are relevant to women today, better understand how your experiences have shaped your career, and use the information you learn to empower yourself and your male and female colleagues in today's competitive workplace. Whether you're a first-year executive, a seasoned pro or someone in between, you will walk away with something to integrate into your life-both personally and professionally-to help elevate your success.

Date: Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019
Time: 1:30-4 p.m.
Location: Indigo Ballrooms A&E at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront

Women in Baseball Leadership Event Scholarship

Created in 2017 by Minor League Baseball, the goal of the scholarship program is to give more women the opportunity to attend the Baseball Winter Meetings and the Women in Baseball Leadership Event, despite their circumstances. Each year, between two and four recipients will be chosen by the Women in Baseball Committee from a pool of deserving, talented, up-and-coming MiLB female executives. Each scholarship covers registration fees for the Baseball Winter Meetings and flight and hotel accommodations.

  • Currently works as a full‐time employee for a Minor League Baseball team
  • Has not previously attended the Baseball Winter Meetings or the Women in Baseball Leadership Event
  • Would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the Baseball Winter Meetings (i.e., the club did not plan on bringing the individual to the annual meetings due to financial limitations or other obligations)
  • Shows exemplary work ethic, passion for the baseball industry and a desire to grow as a professional

Coffee & Connections

In 2017, Coffee & Connections was added to the Innovators Summit (formerly known as the Promotional Seminar) as an opportunity for attendees to gather before the day's events to network with women in the industry. In 2018, programming expanded to include speakers and interactive workshops that allowed attendees to openly discuss the day-to-day challenges and triumphs of women in the baseball industry, as well as share ideas on how to promote gender inclusion in the workplace.

Coffee & Connections at the Innovators Summit features dialogue among both women and men attendees on how to promote gender inclusion in the workplace.

This event is open to all registered Innovators Summit attendees, both women and men.

LIFT Mentorship Program

The Women in Baseball LIFT (Leaders Inspiring Future Talent) Mentorship Program was created to promote the growth of women in baseball through emphasis on building meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals in the industry. Through a strategic year-round program, participants can take steps towards achieving their career goals, expand their professional development and, most importantly, gain a supportive community within Minor League Baseball.

The mission of the Women in Baseball LIFT Program is to build continuous lines of communication and support, develop the next generation of women executives, and retain quality professionals in Minor League Baseball. By empowering individuals to inspire each other through mentorship relationships, this program will encourage women to seek career advancement, positive networking connections and increased self-confidence in the working environment.

Applications for participation are available each fall, with each LIFT Mentorship Program class beginning in January of the following year.
