First Tennessee Park Announces Enhanced Fan Safety Procedures for Events

Increased Security Screening, Including Use Of Metal Detectors, Introduced For Ballpark Events

With fan safety as a top concern, especially in light of recent events around the country, the Nashville Sounds Baseball Club has announced the addition of elevated guest screening procedures at all entrance gates for events held at First Tennessee Park, effective immediately.
"Fan, staff, and player safety is our top priority at First Tennessee Park," said Sounds General Manager Adam Nuse. "While we realize this is an added step in entering our ballpark, we feel this will enhance fan safety while allowing our fans to continue to enjoy their time spent with family and friends at a ball game."
The elevated guest screening procedures will be utilized for all Sounds games as well as other full-ballpark events including Nashville SC games, the Big Guitar Brewfest on May 19, and future events and concerts.
The new safety procedures at all First Tennessee Park fan entrances will be as follows:
All fans will be required to remove cell phones, keys, cameras, sunglass cases, and other large metal objects from their pockets before going through a metal detector. Fans will not be asked to remove belts, shoes, jackets, wallets or coins.
To expedite the entrance to First Tennessee Park, fans without bags can use an express entry line at the Home Plate and Right Field Entrances.
Weapons and firearms of all kinds are strictly prohibited at First Tennessee Park, with the exception of active law enforcement officials licensed to carry weapons. Law enforcement officials wishing to gain entrance to the ballpark must register their weapons or firearms with a security staff member at the First Tennessee Park Home Plate Entrance.
All metal detection equipment in use at First Tennessee Park will meet or exceed local and international standards for electromagnetic emissions and immunity, as well as electrical safety standards used worldwide.
The 2018 season will be the Sounds' 41st in franchise history and fourth as the Oakland Athletics' top affiliate. Opening Day is set for Thursday, April 5 when the Sounds begin the season in New Orleans. Opening Night at First Tennessee Park is scheduled for Tuesday, April 10 when the Sounds host the Iowa Cubs at 6:35 p.m. Season ticket memberships are available now by calling (615) 690-4487 or by visiting www.nashvillesounds.com.
