TACOMA, Wash. - A career-high seven RBI from catcher Chris Herrmann helped propel the Tacoma Rainiers (7-6) to a 14-2 rout of the Albuquerque Isotopes (6-8) on Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.
Herrmann collected his first grand slam in nearly five years as part of a 2-for-4, three-run, seven-RBI outburst that led the Rainiers offense. The seven RBI collected by Herrmann were a new career high, surpassing his previous single-game record of four RBI, set three times, most recently on April 23, 2016 against Pittsburgh.

Herrmann's big outing was also the first seven-RBI game from a Rainiers player since Tyler O'Neill drove in seven on June 23, 2017 at Reno.
Rainiers starting pitcher Rob Whalen (2-0) turned in his second straight quality start and earned his second win of the season. Whalen worked 6.0 innings and allowed just one unearned run on four hits while striking out three.
Tacoma also saw multiple hits from third baseman Gordon Beckham (2x5, R, 2B), center fielder Taylor Motter (1x4, 3 R, 2 2B, RBI), and right fielder Cameron Perkins (2x5, 2 R).
Rainiers right-hander Max Povse (0-2, 10.13) will face off against Isotopes right-hander Jeff Hoffman (0-1, 8.10) in game three of the series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. PT.
