FRESNO, Calif. - The Tacoma Rainiers (10-9) dropped their series opener to the Fresno Grizzlies (14-6) by a score of 10-0 on Wednesday night at Chukchansi Park.Catcher Chris Herrmann (2x4, BB) and center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (2x4, 2B) both collected multiple hits. FRESNO, Calif. - The Tacoma Rainiers (10-9) dropped their series opener to the Fresno Grizzlies (14-6) by a score of 10-0 on Wednesday night at Chukchansi Park.
Catcher Chris Herrmann (2x4, BB) and center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (2x4, 2B) both collected multiple hits. The Rainiers offense picked up seven base knocks and drew six walks in the shutout loss.

Fresno jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning and built their lead out to 10-0 with nine runs across the fourth and fifth innings.
Tacoma starting pitcher Max Povse (1-3) surrendered seven runs on nine hits across 4.0 innings of work. He issued three walks, struck out four, and took the loss.
Right-handers Ryan Garton (1.2 IP), Shawn Armstrong (1.0 IP), and Mike Morin (1.0 IP) combined to hold Fresno scoreless on just two hits out of the Tacoma bullpen.
The Rainiers and Grizzlies continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. PT. Tacoma right-hander Christian Bergman (2-1, 2.49) will face off against Fresno righty Rogelio Armenteros (0-0, 5.65).
