Intimidators win slugfest with Suns, 10-9

Behind a four-RBI day for Evan Skoug and a three-hit day for Nick Madrigal, the Intimidators beat the Suns 10-9 Tuesday evening at Intimidators Stadium supported by Atrium Health, while also winning the series, 3-to-1.
In the bottom-half of the first inning, Nolan Brown led off the inning with a four-pitch walk against RHP Andrew Lee (L, 3-2), followed by two-straight walks to Luis Curbelo and Nick Madrigal. With bases loaded and no outs, Lee recorded two strikeouts, but with Tyler Frost at the plate, the right-handed pitcher walked the six-hole hitter for Kannapolis for the first run.
In the top-half of the second, Jake Scudder led off with a double into right-center, as the next five batters in the Suns lineup reached base, helping score four runs on four hits, taking a 4-1 lead.
After the big inning for Hagerstown (35-58, 8-17), the Intimidators responded with five of their own runs in the third inning, as Madrigal led off the inning with his first hit as a Kannapolis Intimidator (52-40, 13-12). Dedelow tripled in Madrigal from first base, as Tate Blackman and Frost both walked to load the bases for Anthony Villa.
With Villa striking out, Skoug ripped a triple that dribbled into the right field corner, clearing the bases and helping the Intimidators regain the lead, 5-4. One batter later, Johan Cruz grounded out on a sharp shot to third base, scoring Skoug to push the I's lead to two, 6-4.
In the fourth, Hagerstown scored two more runs, thanks to a double from Armond Upshaw and a single from Cole Freeman, helping tie the game, 6-6.
One inning later in the fifth, the Intimidators added on three more runs, as Blackman and Villa both reached on singles with one out, as Blackman came in to score after a Skoug double into left-center, giving Kannapolis a 7-6 lead. After a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cruz that scored Villa from third, Brown singled up the middle to score Skoug, increasing the Kannapolis lead to two, 9-6.
Despite giving up two runs in the seventh and one in the ninth, Will Kincanon (S, 3) stranded the tying run on third base to end the game with a groundout to Madrigal at second base.
The Intimidators will take the series victory into an off-day on Wednesday before heading to Hickory for a four-game series.
