(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- RHP Donny Roach continued his solid 2018 campaign with six quality innings, shortstop Eddy Alvarez added three hits, and the Charlotte Knights edged out the Indianapolis Indians by a score of 4-3 on Sunday night in front of a sell-out crowd of 10,256 fans at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. It was Charlotte's ninth sell-out crowd of the 2018 season.

Roach (4-2, 3.70) walked just one batter and gave up six hits on the night en route to his fourth victory of the season. The 28-year-old right hander gave up three runs (two earned) and struck-out four batters. In 10 starts this season, Roach has now thrown eight quality starts. Charlotte's bullpen was also solid on the night in relief of Roach. LHP Xavier Cedeño (1.0 IP), RHP Jeanmar Gόmez (1.0 IP), and RHP Juan Minaya (1.0 IP) combined to hold the Indians scoreless over the final three frames.

After winning Saturday's game by a score of 6-2, the Indians got off to a quick start on Sunday. In the first inning of the Sunday's game, the team scored three runs against Roach and the Knights. The inning was highlighted by a Kevin Kramer RBI double. Still, the Charlotte offense battled back and Roach settled in nicely over his final five innings.

Down by a score of 3-0, the Knights mounted their comeback in the bottom of the second inning against Indianapolis. Charlotte first baseman Casey Gillaspie , who was activated off the Temporary Inactive List before the game, doubled home catcher Dustin Garneau for the club's first run of the game. Two batters later, Alvarez doubled home Gillaspie to pull the Knights to within one run, 3-2.

The Knights tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning when second baseman Jake Elmore hit a sacrifice fly to score Alvarez from third base. One inning later, Alvarez once again played a key role. Alvarez singled home Gillaspie in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Knights a 4-3 lead and ultimately a come-from-behind victory. Gillaspie (two hits) and Alvarez (three hits) combined to tally half of Charlotte's 10 hits on the night.

The Knights will conclude their four-game series against the Indianapolis Indians (Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates) on Monday afternoon from BB&T Ballpark. Gates will open at 1:00 p.m. and first pitch of Monday's game is set for 2:05 p.m. Pre-game radio coverage will begin at 1:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights radio broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action. RHP Michael Kopech is expected to start the game for the Knights.
