Game 1
The Intimidators and Tyler Frost got out to an early lead in the second inning, as the former Gonzaga Bulldog smacked his fourth triple of the season down the right field line, scoring one batter later with a Carlos Perez groundout to second base.
Up 1-0 in the third, Sebastian Rivero, Marten Gasparini and Ricky Aracena all singled to begin the inning for the Legends, with Rivero and Gasparini scoring on Aracena's single to tie the game, 2-1. After a groundout and a single from Cristian Perez to score the third run for the Legends, Lexington rattled off two more hits in the inning to give themselves a 4-1 lead through three innings of play.
After a 1-2-3 inning for the Intimidators on offense in the top of the fourth, the Legends tacked on three more runs off Kannapolis' Yosmer Solorzano (L, 3-7) on three hits, including one double from Sebastian Rivero, to give the home team a 7-1 edge.
Charlotte-native, Jackson Kowar, pitched well through 4.0 innings on the bump for Lexington, giving up only one hit and one run on 56 pitches, followed by a solid 3.0 innings from Garrett Davila (W, 6-5).
In a shortened game due to it being a double header, Tate Blackman cranked out his twelfth homer of the year to left field, recording just the third hit of the night for the Intimidators.
Game 2
In the latter half of the double dip in Lexington on Sunday, Kannapolis dug themselves in an early hole in the first and second innings. In the first, the Legends brought in two runs off Drew Harrington (L, 7-6), highlighted by a double from Pratto and a groundout off the bat of MJ Melendez to score the second run of the inning.
In the second frame, Lexington knocked Harrington out of the ball game after four singles, a sacrifice fly and a triple from Melendez to give the Legends a 7-1 lead.
After adding on another run in the fourth inning to increase their lead to seven, 8-1, Craig Dedelow hit his team-high 30th double of the season to right field, followed by a Tate Blackman walk. With two on and only one out, Frost connected on his team-high 16th homer of the season to right field, cutting the lead in half, 8-4.
But, with the game going only seven innings due to it being the second game of the double header, the Intimidators ran out of time, losing 8-4 for their seventh-straight loss.
Kannapolis will look to right the right the ship with a 2:05 p.m. first pitch in Lexington on Monday before coming back for a seven-game homestand at Intimidators Stadium supported by Atrium Health.
