For the sixth day in a row and eighth-straight game, the Intimidators found themselves in the loss column, dropping game four of the series against the Legends, 3-1, Monday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Lexington jumped on the board in the first inning against Parker Rigler (L, 6-7), Kyle Isbel knocked just his second homer over the right field wall, giving the Legends a quick 1-0 lead.
After Yefri Del Rosario (W, 4-5) struck out the side in the top of the second for Lexington, Sebastian Rivero doubled on a line drive to left field, followed by a Cal Jones bunt-single back to Rigler, allowing Rivero to move to third. With runners at the corners and one out, Isbel hit a single to Frost in right field, scoring Rivero to increase the lead to two.
One batter later, Cristian Perez reached on a fielding error by Justin Yurchak at first base, allowing the third run to come in to score for the Legends.
Kannapolis sprinkled in just three hits throughout the night against three different pitchers for Lexington, striking out 12 times, including three in the ninth. Steele Walker gave the Intimidators their best chance to score early in the first inning, as the 2018 second-round pick reached on a single and swiped his first bag of the season, moving Frost to third base who reached on a walk earlier in the inning. Then, with two outs, Craig Dedelow flew out to center field and Tate Blackman grounded out to third base, leaving both runners in scoring position.
The Intimidators added on a late run in the eighth inning, as Ramon Beltre reached on the second wild pitch-strikeout of the night with one out. After a groundout to third base off the bat of Evan Skoug, allowing Beltre to move up 90 feet to third, Frost singled in Beltre to right field to cut the lead to two, 3-1.
The Legends ended the night with 12 hits, with six of those coming in the first two innings. Jhoan Quijada pitched the last two innings of the ballgame for Kannapolis, giving up only two hits and striking out one batter.
The Intimidators will have Tuesday off before hosting the Augusta GreenJackets for three games and the Greensboro Grasshoppers for a five-game stretch over four games starting Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
